Q: How much does it cost to have my windows defogged vs. replaced? A: The cost to defog the window is less than the cost of replacement but will vary depending on the type of damage the window has sustained. Because of the various styles and sizes of windows, our Authorized Dealers will provide a free no obligation written estimate. In addition to saving money, you are helping to save the environment as window glass is not recycled. Q: How do you handle visible oxidation or damage to a soft coat Low-E caused by the seal failure? A: Thank you for your question regarding soft coat low-e. Our CCWW dealers have very good success with low-e IGs that have simple condensation or fog. We need to test the coating and be careful with our solutions but we can remove the moisture, and more importantly prevent any further degradation of the coating and therefore extend the life of low-e coated windows for a very long time. To specifically answer your question, if the coating has started to erode, slough, oxidize or deteriorate - which usually first occurs around the entire perimeter of the IG at the spacer bar - the best that we can do is to remove the moisture based debris and staining. The key with low-e IGs is to get them early and perform our process as a preventive maintenance measure on the other IGs where evidence of coating degradation has yet to present. Our objective is to stop any further damage to the coating resulting from the moisture trapped in the air space. Our process will prevent damage to the other IGs and restore insulation value in all the IGs were we perform our service. Q: Will this process work windows in a a solarium? The panels we are having problems with are in the ceiling. A: It can work providing the sealed units on the ceiling are not tempered glass - you would have to call one of our Authorized dealers to have them look at the glass. Q: Does your process clean the inside glass as well as dry it out? My windows appear to be discolored from the moisture. If there is a puncture in the seal from installation nails penetrating into the seal (apparently a common cause of the problem) - does your service fix this as well? Or, are there some leaking windows that your process is not suitable for and replacements are called for. I understand the obvious issues of rotting wood and broken glass and I am referring to the more subtle and likely hidden problems that have caused the window to leak like nails through the edge. Your advice would be appreciated. A: Yes, our process will dry the window out and prevent any further condensation from appearing. Q: You advertise a 20 year warranty. How long has this process been available and is there documentary evidence to indicate how long this process works? A: This process has been used since the late 80's. The reason that we can offer a 20 year warranty is because we have re-engineered the window system. The moisture in the window was a result of moisture entering the airspace as a result of expansion and contraction. With our Defogger System this no longer occurs and new moisture cannot be drawn into the window system. If moisture cannot be expelled from the system then we re-service or refund. Q: We have 5 inches of water in the window and it will need caulking as well as repair. Can your company handle the whole job? A: Yes we can, we can remove the water and many of our dealers are setup to do caulking. |
